Chelsea’s Danny Drinkwater could join Victor Moses at Fenerbahce

As per a report from the Daily Mail, Turkish giants Fenerbahce are keen on securing Danny Drinkwater’s signature from Chelsea.

Chelsea struggles

28-year-old midfielder Drinkwater has been on the books of Chelsea since the summer of 2017, when he made the move to Stamford Bridge from Leicester City for a hefty £35 million.

However, despite having thoroughly-impressed during his time with Leicester, Drinkwater has since majorly struggled to replicate his form in London.

After managing just 5 Premier League starts under Antonio Conte last season, the once-capped English international’s game-time has since diminished further since Maurizio Sarri’s appointment at Stamford Bridge last summer.

In fact, Drinkwater has not featured for Chelsea since the Blues’ Community Shield clash with Manchester City back in August.

Fenerbahce bound?

As such, it has come as little surprise to see the Manchester United youth product linked with a potential transfer this month.

And, as per the aforementioned report from the Daily Mail, the latest club to express an interest in Drinkwater’s signature are Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce.

Fener, who have endured a dismal campaign to this point (currently sit 2nd from bottom of the Super Lig table), actually only secured the signing of one Chelsea outcast, in the form of Victor Moses, earlier this week.

The Ivorian made the move to the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium on loan until the end of next season:

And Drinkwater could soon join his former Chelsea teammate in Turkey, with Fenerbahce keen to make the English midfielder their 3rd addition of the January transfer window.

Any move would, like Moses’, also likely come in the form of a loan.
