Chelsea boss Sarri provides final N’Golo Kante update ahead of Europa League final

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has this evening confirmed that midfielder N’Golo Kante remains a major doubt to feature in the Europa League final.

Chelsea vs Arsenal

Maurizio Sarri’s Blues played their final of 38 Premier League fixtures two weeks ago, with the capital giants having picked up a 0-0 draw at the King Power Stadium versus Leicester.

This point saw Chelsea secure 3rd-place in the English top-flight table, and automatic entry into the group stages of next season’s Champions League.

However, their campaign has not yet come to a close, with a Europa League final meeting with Arsenal still to come tomorrow night.

The Londoners secured their place in the competition’s finale courtesy of a penalty shootout victory over Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt at Stamford Bridge on May 9th.

Arsenal, meanwhile, pushed past Valencia in impressive fashion to book their spot in the tournament’s showcase, with the Gunners having the extra incentive of requiring a win in Baku to clinch a berth in the Champions League next season.

Kante 50/50

Both sides are set to head into proceedings with concerns on the injury front, though.

Arsenal will be without star midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who is sidelined with a hamstring problem.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are set to be forced to make do without any of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Antonio Rudiger or Callum Hudson-Odoi.

In addition, crucially, the Blues could yet also miss out on N’Golo Kante’s services.

This comes after the Frenchman picked up a knee injury in training over the weekend:

As such, speaking in a press conference this evening, Maurizio Sarri was inevitably drawn on Kante’s fitness, with the Chelsea boss having confirmed that though his side’s midfield dynamo is only suffering with a ‘little problem’, he remains at 50/50 to feature tomorrow night:
