Chelsea linked with signing Watford manager Javi Gracia as Maurizio Sarri’s replacement

Maurizio Sarri & Chelsea

On Tuesday, the Italian press continue to believe that Maurizio Sarri’s days at Chelsea are numbered.

Sarri enjoyed a successful first season at Stamford Bridge following his move from Napoli.

For the first time in his career, Sarri won his first major honour as Chelsea beat Arsenal to lift the Europa League trophy.

In the Premier League, Chelsea ended the season in third place.

Nevertheless, the likes of Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport link Sarri with the vacancy at Juventus today.

Could Chelsea sign Watford’s Javi Gracia?

ESPN are reporting that Watford manager Javi Gracia is on Chelsea’s shortlist as a possible replacement should Sarri return to Italy.

For the record, Gracia signed a long term deal with Watford last season.

Gracia is under contract with Watford until 2023.

So how likely is it that Gracia leave Vicarage Road this summer?

It’s worth noting that links between Gracia and Chelsea first popped up a few months ago.

Journalist Duncan Castles previously reported the following:

Chelsea have included Javi Gracia on a shortlist of candidates to replace Maurizio Sarri as the English Premier League club’s ‘head coach’.

In addition to the results and quality of football Gracia has delivered since his January 2018 appointment, Chelsea have been impressed by the Spaniard’s calm and controversy-free demeanour.
