Harry Kane expecting to start on the bench vs Liverpool claims Hoddle

Tottenham vs Liverpool

The 2019 Champions League final is edging ever closer.

The tie will take place later today in Madrid between Liverpool and Tottenham.

Spurs head into the final with no experience in the UCL last two.

Liverpool, on the other hand, were in last year’s final and won the final last in 2005.

Whichever manager lifts the trophy tonight will also have earned their first piece of silverware at their respective clubs.

Will Kane start?

Liverpool will head into the tie as favourites due to the fact they finished a staggering 26 points above Spurs in the 2018/19 Premier League table.

They also beat Tottenham twice in the PL this past season, both ties ending 2-1 to Jurgen Klopp’s men.

If Spurs are going to really challenge Liverpool in Madrid, they could do with Harry Kane being fit.

Kane hasn’t played since April due to a ligament problem.

However, Kane is close to recovering from his injury with the striker himself saying he felt good earlier this week.

Despite Kane’s positive update though, Glenn Hoddle believes, after speaking to Kane, that he is expecting to start from the bench vs Liverpool:

“My gut feeling was that he expects to start on the bench tomorrow.

“I would put him on the bench, you can then bring Harry Kane on second half if needed.” As quoted by the Evening Standard.

Mauricio Pochettino was once again asked about Kane starting on Friday, to which he responded:

“It’s normal that you are asking me, it’s not easy, it is not going to be easy to make that decision tomorrow.

“But it was difficult the last game that we played, the semi-finals, the quarter-finals, the last 16.

“Every single game we need to take a decision.

“Tomorrow is going to be another decision, a decision when we have all the information and we know every single detail, we are going to take the best decision to win.” As quoted by the Evening Standard.
