Man City are unwilling to sell Ilkay Gundogan this summer- Sky

Gundogan’s time in Manchester

Ilkay Gundogan joined Manchester City in July of 2016 from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of around £24m.

Gundogan has gone on to make over 100 appearances for the Citizens.

In those appearances Gundogan has scored 17 and assisted 17. The German also made an impressive 50 appearances this past season.

During his stint in Manchester Gundogan has won two league titles, one FA Cup, two League Cups and the Community Shield.

Gundogan’s future up in the air

However, earlier this year, rumours were circulating that Gundogan would leave Man City in the summer transfer window.

Gundogan’s current Man City deal runs till July of 2020. But he has yet to put pen to paper over any sort of extension.

When speaking about negotiations in March, Gundogan stated:

“I would say we are still in talks, but there is no pressure. One day there has to be a decision but I’m very happy at the moment here, especially playing under Pep, and that’s the most important thing now.”

Now, according to Sky Sports News, Man City will not be letting the midfielder leave the club this summer, even if he doesn’t sign a new deal.

This could mean Man City lose Gundogan on a free transfer next summer.

If Gundogan doesn’t extend his deal, foreign clubs will be allowed to sign a pre-contract agreement with him as early as January 2020.
