Man United becoming frustrated over price of several transfer targets- Standard

Man United need to rebuild

Manchester United had a very poor 2018/19 season by their standards.

While their closest rivals Liverpool and Manchester City were winning the Champions League and Premier League, United were finishing in 6th place.

After Jose Mourinho was sacked in December and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appointed interim boss, it did look as though United could actually partly turn their season around.

Man United would go on a 13-match unbeaten run in the PL with Solskjaer

However, United’s form has since dipped off massively, failing to win any of their last five league outings.

The Red Devils also conceded a staggering 54 goals in 38 games this past season.

United’s targets expensive

After such a poor season it was quite clear United needed to sign some new talent this summer.

The Red Devils have begun that process already, signing Daniel James from Swansea City.

However, according to the Evening Standard, Man United are somewhat frustrated with the asking prices of several of their alleged targets.

As per the report from the ES, United did hold an interest in Bournemouth winger, Ryan Fraser.

But Man United are said to have been put off by Fraser’s £40m-plus asking price and it is in part, why they chose to pursue James instead.

Man United are also reportedly targeting Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The ES claim Palace’s £50m valuation of the youngster is twice as much as United’s intended opening bid.

Elsewhere, Leicester duo James Maddison and Harry Maguire are apparently valued at £70m and £80m respectably.
