Tottenham boost: Real Betis closing on deal for Nabil Fekir – Le Parisien

As per a report from French outlet Le Parisien, Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir is inching closer to a move to Spanish outfit Real Betis.

Liverpool switch collapses

The future of Lyon captain Fekir has been under the microscope for some time now.

On the back of a standout campaign in 2017/18, it looked for all intents and purposes as though the Frenchman was set to join Liverpool last summer.

However, much to the dismay of the Reds’ faithful, in the end, their side’s move for Fekir collapsed. An apparent last-minute ‘transfer fee change’ saw Lyon pull the plug on negotiations with the board at Anfield.

As a result, Fekir has since remained at the Groupama Stadium.

Betis bound?

Rumours linking the 25-year-old with an imminent Lyon departure have resurfaced in force this summer, though.

And, as per the aforementioned report from Le Parisien, a clear front-runner has emerged in the race for Fekir’s signature.

The outfit in question are Real Betis.

It is suggested that the two clubs are in ‘advanced’ negotiations, with a 30 million Euro deal expected to be agreed.

Fekir would then put pen-to-paper on a 5-year deal at the Benito Villamarin, worth 7 million Euro-per-season.

Tottenham boost

A potential Fekir move to Betis, meanwhile, would also mark good news for Tottenham, in the north Londoners’ chase of Giovani Lo Celso.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have long-been named as keen admirers of the Argentine’s talents, with Lo Celso viewed as a potential replacement for Christian Eriksen.

In fact, Le Parisien suggest that Fekir’s move to Spain is dependent on Spurs closing a deal for the Betis standout.
