Arsenal expected to continue to listen to Mustafi & Elneny offers

As per a report from James Olley of the Evening Standard, Arsenal could still sell both Shkodran Mustafi and Mohamed Elneny this summer.

Arsenal arrivals

A superb, high-profile window for the Gunners on the addition front came to a close yesterday evening.

The club’s shaky backline looks to have been at least somewhat shored up, after both Kieran Tierney and David Luiz secured deadline day moves to the Emirates.

This followed the previous signings of all of Gabriel Martinelli, Dani Ceballos, Nicolas Pepe and William Saliba:

Elsewhere, there was also one high-profile deadline departure from Unai Emery’s squad, as Alex Iwobi made the move to Goodison Park to link up with Everton.

Mustafi & Elneny to depart?

Iwobi’s exit, though, may not be the final one from the Emirates this summer.

As per the aforementioned report from the Evening Standard’s James Olley, Arsenal could yet offload out-of-favour pair Shkodran Mustafi and Mohamed Elneny.

Oft-criticized defender Mustafi is likely to find game-time tough to come by this coming season, with all of new signing David Luiz, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Rob Holding likely ahead of the German in the Gunners’ defensive pecking order.

Midfielder Elneny, meanwhile, managed just 5 Premier League starts last season, with the former Basel man’s time on the pitch unlikely to see any significant improvement in 2019/20.

As such, the north Londoners’ hierarchy are said to be ready to listen to proposals for both until August 31st, the Premier League sale deadline.

As things stand, offers for Mustafi appear few-and-far between. Elneny, though, has been locked in negotiations with Turkish giants Galatasaray for some time now.
