Steve Bruce gives Newcastle injury update pre-Norwich

Norwich vs Newcastle

Steve Bruce took charge of his first Premier League game as Newcastle boss last weekend.

The Magpies played host to Unai Emery’s Arsenal on Sunday.

The tie was pretty competitive and Newcastle did have a few decent chances.

However, it would ultimately be Arsenal who came away with the win thanks to a goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Newcastle’s second game of the campaign sees them travel to newly-promoted Norwich.

Norwich lost their return game to the PL 4-1 at Anfield.

Newcastle squad update

Ahead of the Norwich tie, Steve Bruce has given an injury update on his squad.

Jonjo Shelvey didn’t complete 90 minutes vs Arsenal and didn’t look 100% himself.

Bruce then stated on Friday that the midfielder trained yesterday and the day before and he should be ok for Saturday.

“We think he’s going to be OK. He trained yesterday and the day before.”

Bruce also added that Allan Saint-Maximin is a slight doubt due to a hamstring problem.

But the former Sheffield Wednesday boss did go on to state that Emil Krafth is fine:

“We’ve a slight doubt about Allan Saint-Maximin – he has a slight hamstring problem. We’ll see where he is today. Emil Krafth is fine.”
